About Us
Awl Tomorrow's Bindings (ATB) — a small home-based bookbinding enterprise located in Halifax, Nova Scotia — specializes in crafting a wide array of bindings. Our styles include case bound, accordion, leather bound, coptic, and book boxes. These tailored books serve various purposes, from wedding guestbooks and baby albums to essential planners, journals, and more. We collaborate on customization to ensure your perfect book is created, offering numerous personalization options. In addition to custom books, ATB provides book repair services.
What Awl Tomorrow's Bindings is all about
Awl Tomorrow's Bindings emphasizes crafting high-quality binding, with a strong commitment to sustainability. Our bindings employ archival materials, ensuring that are products are made to last! Whenever possible, we make an effort to repurpose materials and maximize recycling. At times, this involves transforming paper scraps into fresh paper to minimize waste or repurposing boards from unused books. Nonetheless, our goal is to bind super cool books, while at the same time leaving as small of an environmental footprint as possible.
More recently, we've begun to undertake repairs on older books. Whether it's a cherished religious text, a well-loved book showing signs of use, or a heirloom passed down to you, our objective is to restore your book to an (almost) new state, enabling its continued use and contributing to reduced landfill waste! |
Em Doucette
My name is Em. I graduated from NSCAD University in 2019 — where I completed my BFA Interdisciplinary, as well as a minor in Art History and Book, Paper, Print. During my tenure at NSCAD, my primary focus was initially printmaking, however after taking my first bookbinding class, I fell in love with the process and quickly started incorporating it into my other work. Post- graduation I decided I wanted to continue binding books and in 2020, Awl Tomorrow's Bindings was born.
